The Pink Predicament

Pink flowers can be knock out gorgeous in an arrangement or bouquet and translate beautifully within a preserved Keepsake Floral keepsake as well.  But they can be tricky to preserve and restore for lasting beauty in a keepsake.

Pink flowers represent tenderness, innocence and sweetness .. all soft and delicate sentiments that can describe a person or a marriage .. a perfect color selection for a wedding!  In some cultures, pink flowers symbolize harmony, unconditional love and the nurturing of a relationship… some more awesome wedding and marriage connections to these sweet and innocent hued beauties!

Some pink flowers turn more golden when they are preserved .. requiring a color infusion by our artists during their painting and coloring step.  These flowers (like some lisianthus and softer pink roses) will be colored with one, two or even three different tones of pink, burgundy and even white or ivory to achieve a realistic tone.

With bright pinks and fuchsias like we see in peonies, some rose varieties and even stock, tulips and others, we see much more of a blue tone appearing post-dehydration.  This brings out the crimson and burgundy hues more.  The Keepsake Colorist must tamp that down with a totally different color wash first to knock out the blue, and then continue with the color matching to the photo of the flower on the day of the event.

And of course, many fuchsia and hot pink flower varieties (like alstromeria, some orchids and stargazers) have fabulously detailed stripes and dots placed by Mother Nature.  So not only do these require pinking up, but also some meticulous hand re-painting of the aforementioned markings to enhance them and ensure that they will stay visible over time.

Pinks appear simple upon initial glance, but can be complicated when preserving their color once dehydrated.  Keepsake’s professional artists and colorists ensure that these sweet pinks will put their best flower feet forward in our clients’ keepsakes time after time.
