Keepsake Floral Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly should I get my flowers to Keepsake Floral after my event?

Keepsake Floral recommends that you take good care of your bouquet after the event and arrange to overnight ship or drop off your flowers to us the first business day or two after your event. We receive most of our flowers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Keepsake Floral is open only for ½ day on Friday and closed on the weekends. If your shipment of flowers will be received by Keepsake Floral on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, please call us to get our weekend shipping address. Bouquet care after the event recommendations can be found (HERE). For self-packing and shipping instructions, look (HERE).

What supplies do I need to ship my flowers to Keepsake Floral?

If your event is more than 10 days away, you may opt to receive our Floral Express Kit (FEK). It contains all of the supplies you will need with full instructions on how to overnight ship your flowers to us after your event (does not include the cost for overnight shipping). Just add it to your cart at check out.

If your event has already happened or is closer than 10 days away, you will need to self-pack and overnight ship your flowers to us. For self-packing and shipping instructions, look (HERE).

What happens to my flowers after they are received?

Your flowers and other embellishments that you ship to us for your keepsake will be inventoried, measured, taken apart, and placed expertly into preservation/stored under your name. Keepsake Floral has a proprietary method to remove the moisture from your flowers. We do not freeze, freeze dry, hang your bouquet upside down, or spray it with chemicals to preserve them. Once your flowers have been preserved and color enhanced, they will be adhered to the interior of your keepsake in the design that you choose.

How long after the event can I ship/drop off my flowers?

The fresher your flowers are, the better they turn out during preservation. Keeping your flowers in a vase with an inch or two of water after your event will keep them hydrated. Keepsake Floral recommends overnight shipping or dropping off your flowers to Keepsake Floral the first business day or two after your event following our instructions. We will still accept bouquets beyond this timeline, but those clients may need more bloom replacements than a client who ships quickly after the event. Packing and shipping instructions and supplies needed for your flowers can be found HERE.

Some of the flowers in my bouquet look damaged or have wilted. Can you repair them?

Even if you have kept your flowers hydrated in water, cared for, and shipped them to us as instructed, it is typical that a few blooms may need to be replaced. In your floral keepsake, we do not want your eye to be drawn to the few blooms that look damaged or wilted. This would not do justice to the memory you have of your flowers, and the reason you wanted to preserve your flowers in the first place. Keepsake Floral will replace any damaged blooms that will detract from your floral design with freshly preserved blooms of the same type. If you are thinking of preservation long after your event, Keepsake Floral can “RECREATE” your bouquet completely, using a picture of your bouquet on the day of the event. Our expert preservationists will identify and preserve the flowers needed to achieve the keepsake design you want, and you can still mail to us any other personal items (invitation, memory card, photo, bouquet charms, ribbon, or other mementos) that you may want to include in your keepsake.

I want to include an invitation, photo, program, memory card, charm, or other memento in my keepsake. How do I get those items to you?

Receiving your flowers in our studio as soon as possible for preservation is important. You are welcome to ship any extra items that you may want to be part of your keepsake to us with your flowers, but do not delay your flowers shipment to gather them. They will make your box heavier and add cost to your overnight shipment. If you have many items, we recommend shipping those separately regular mail, so they are less expensive to ship. Either way, be sure to protect your paper items between some cardboard, so they do not get bent by the mail carrier, and to protect them from moisture as well.

Do my preserved flowers look exactly like my fresh flowers?

Keepsake Floral aims to create preserved flowers that look as close as possible to your flowers on the day of the event. With over 30 years of preservation experience, we believe our preserved flowers are the best in the industry. Your preserved flowers will maintain their shape and dimension after preservation. We do not press flowers. As the moisture is removed from flowers during preservation, they naturally change their color shade. White flowers will turn more ivory or off white, while colored flowers will deepen in shade. During our color enhancing process, we try to color match your flowers back to their original shade, but some subtle shade differences may remain, especially with white flowers, which tend to keep an antique white or ivory shade even after color enhancement. Since your flowers will be adhered within your keepsake, there will be less space between each bloom in your keepsake than in the original bouquet.

Is a Bouquet Resemblance a replica of my bouquet?

No. All bouquets/arrangements are taken apart for preservation. We do not preserve bouquets whole.  If you choose a bouquet resemblance for your design choice, our artists will arrange and adhere your flowers to resemble the look of your original bouquet, taking into consideration your flower selection, and the size constraints of the keepsake type and size you chose. It will not be an exact replica. For most clients, the resemblance will be a bit smaller than the length and width of your original bouquet.

How long will my keepsake last?

Our keepsakes will last indefinitely if they are cared for properly. We recommend placing your keepsake in a location that is temperature controlled and does not receive direct light or sunlight shining on or through it. Many of our keepsakes ship with care instructions either included in your shipping box or adhered to the back of your keepsake. Please read through these instructions upon receipt and hold on to them in case you ever need to use them—sometimes years later.

Why can’t I purchase preserved flowers without a keepsake?

Your bouquet is taken apart upon receipt, blooms and embellishments inventoried, and placed into preservation/stored under your name. After preservation, blooms are fragile and easily damaged. As a final step, they will be color enhanced prior to adhering them in a keepsake according to your design choice for their continued protection from damage. Loose, preserved flowers that have not been color enhanced, can be easily damaged when moved or touched, and we cannot guarantee them after shipping, pick up, or long term. For this reason, we do not sell preserved flowers without a keepsake.

Can you return the flowers you do not use in my keepsake to me?

Blooms not used in one of your keepsakes are not returned. Keepsake Floral will choose the best blooms from your flowers for your keepsake(s). Some blooms may be rejected due to age and condition of the bloom when received or after preservation. Even bouquets in good condition may have some blooms that cannot be used due to extreme wilting after the event/shipping. Preserved flowers are fragile and easily damaged when moved or touched and we cannot guarantee their safe delivery. We do not color enhance the blooms not used in your keepsake, and as a result, they will not have the look of the preserved flowers you see on our website. For these reasons, we do not return flowers that are not used in a keepsake.

How long does it take to complete my keepsake?

We cannot begin to plan and work on your custom keepsake until your flowers have been received and preserved, your design choices made, any extra keepsake items received, and your full balance paid. Your keepsake file will be given a “ready for design” date after we have received all of the above.  After your file has been made “ready for design” your keepsake will move through various departments including design planning and supply orders, carpentry, color enhancement, floral design studio, back again to carpentry, quality check, and then packing and shipping (if you are not picking up your keepsake). Your keepsake will move through these departments along with other clients who were made ready for design around the same time. We estimate your keepsake will be complete and ready to ship or pick-up 20-24 weeks from your “ready for design” date, but some can be done sooner depending on the design.

I want to make a change to my keepsake or cancel my order. Can I get a refund?

Keepsake Floral spends many hours preparing to receive your flowers prior to their arrival and placing them into preservation once received. Keepsake Floral does not issue refunds for order changes or canceled orders.

For our Curated Keepsake Collection clients who chose their keepsake(s) from our website store prior to shipping their flowers, changes can be made no later than 10 days after your event. Any changes must be equal to or more than the amount already paid to Keepsake Floral.

For our Custom Keepsake Concierge Experience clients, your deposit is non-refundable. Once you make your keepsake decisions during your phone consulation with our designer, you will be sent an invoice and summary of your choices by email within 24 hours. You will have until the following Monday to discuss with us any changes you desire in your design plan if needed.  Your final balance will be adjusted accordingly, sent again to you by email, and is due upon receipt.
